Heyo! I'm Krzychu (Chris if you like), and I'm a gameplay programmer and content creator based in Poland.
Professionally, I'm working as a full-time Unity gameplay programmer at
Awaken Realms. In my free time,
when I'm not busy procrastinating, I'm finding myself in a constant state of curiosity,
exploring the wonders of all kinds of digital creation:
software engineering, game development, web development, art projects
and more - I like to stick my fingers in everything that interests me.
I also like puzzles and riddles, which is why I'm a big fan of not only programming,
but reverse-engineering, modding, and about any technical thing that could present
itself with a challenge.
Lot of my life on this planet has been consumed by stuff related to a video game Portal 2.
To casual fans of the game, I'm known as a creator of
Triple Laser Saga
- a series of short videos which are a manifestation of various bizzare concepts that
appeared in my mind, all focused around the same test chamber with three laser beams.
On top of that, I am an active member of Portal 2 Speedrunning Community, where I'm known for finding
some of the most revolutionary glitches and skips in the game, creating
Portal 2 Speedrun Mod,
and occasionally adding unnecessary features to
SourceAutoRecord
- a speedrun plugin for this game.
Every once in a while, I pleasure myself by participating in game jams - more specifically, Ludum Dare but you're also very likely to meet me during an annual KrakJam.
A bunch of personal projects that I've worked on (which are mostly abandoned at this point) can be found on my GitHub profile.
I'm always open to chat about whatever, so if you want, throw a message to my mailbox (the address is
[hidden from bots]
)
or join my barely active Discord server
and notify me there (my username is krzyhau
.)
Since 2022, I've been developing a modding environment for video game FEZ. For now, it consists of a couple of tools. One is FEZ Repacker, which allows a conversion of game assets from and into more accessible formats, allowing the user to preview and edit them, as well as put them back into the game. Another tool is HAT Mod Loader, allowing easy and managed injection of custom-made assets and code modifications into the game.
I have also created several mods for the game using these tools as a proof of concept, namely FEZUG (which adds a functional command line with some useful features to the game) and Sonez Skin (which reskins main protagonist to look like Sonic).
Started as a game-jam game, I continued to work on making it a full, polished and content-packed video game for nine months. In this physics simulation puzzle game, you're working as a drone operator, responsible for recovering valuable lost payload from destroyed ships.
Unfortunately, the project is now abandoned, but you can still play the latest build on Itch.io or see the poorly made source code in project's GitHub repository.
A series of short videos I've been creating since 2019. Dive into the stupidly convoluted Portal 2-focused science fiction story about a test subject denying the laws of the universe in order to escape the never ending sequence of the same test chamber repeated over and over again for eternity. The most popular video in these series got nearly 3 million views, so it's safe to say there's some kind of quality in them.
These videos are not only a materialization of whatever my crazy mind has come up with, but for nearly every one of them I've messed with some unique to me concept, whether it's a new software, VFX trick or something completely else.
You can find all of my videos on my YouTube channel.
An attempt to merge two video games - FEZ and Portal 2 - into a single experience. On top of colliding two unique art directions, the game also implements iconic gameplay mechanics from both games - orthographic projection platforming and portals.
The game was made in Unity, and it took one month to finish. You can see the result either by watching my gameplay footage or playing it yourself!
A plugin for Portal 2, initially used by speedrunners for automatic demo recording, but since then has grown into an entire package of tools and QOL features. I played a major role in implementing some of the key features, including but not limited to: tool-assisted speedrun playback environment, advanced input hud, cinematic camera and several game data HUDs. I am also sporadically working on fixing bugs and issues for this project.
You can find the plugin here.
Modification for Portal 2, which allows you to play the game while randomly chosen effects are triggered in order to stop you from proceeding. Each of 70 effects influence the game differently, and since they can stack, you're guaranteed to have a chaotic playthrough. The mod also includes Twitch chat support, allowing people watching you play to vote on your next effect.
The mod can be found here.
No Man's Sky, but as a Pac-Man game. Travel through entirely procedurally generated universe full of planets which you can explore to find strawberries you need to activate a warp engine.
This is a project that I've developed way back in high school - back when I was still making small games in LÖVE framework. This is one of the only ones that I've managed to "mostly" finish.
The game can be played on its own itch.io page online.
I used this project to learn Minecraft's netcode, but it ended up being a social experiment, where players could join a Minecraft server to walk on a giant controller built out of in-game blocks, in order to control the main character in any other game of your choice.
If you're interested, you can either visit a project's GitHub repository. or watch a Twitch VOD of people trying to finish Portal 2 singleplayer campaign with this project running live on my Twitch channel.
Yet another Portal 2 mod, which allows you to play the game with lots of unnecessary wait time removed, creating a very fast-paced experience for speedrunners. On top of that, I have also included several creative modes to make playthrough more unique. The biggest one is Celeste Mode, which ports movement quirks and collectibles from 2D platformer Celeste, completely transforming the way the game is played.
I have abandoned my work on this mod, but it's still maintained by some folks and can be found here.
Everything else that I've created and published can be found under these links:
itch.io page - small games that I've created.
GitHub profile - all other projects.
I honestly have no idea what to put here. Once I figure it out, it will be here. But for now, it is not here, because I don't know what it is yet...
